It’s been quite a while since I updated this space. I’ve been meaning to share photos from Europe, but I’m not completely done editing them. Somehow I’ve let this become a barrier to blogging, which shouldn’t be the case. There are so many other things I can talk about until my photos are ready. Such as food! It’s almost always a good time to talk about food, so that’s what we’re doing today.
Experiment of Apple Streusel Tartlets
Last week Wednesday, I got up in the morning, wandered into the kitchen and had the sudden urge to bake apple streusel tartlets. I wanted to switch things up from my usual French apple tarts. Omitting the almond paste adding streusel seemed like a good start. Except, I had never baked streusel anything before. But I was in an experimental mood, so instead of looking up a cohesive recipe, I combined base recipes instead.

Last month I spent a week in the Philippines, visiting my relatives together with my mum. It’s been years since I last was there and yet in a way, it felt like returning home. Even though I don’t speak the local language, there’s this familial bond to my maternal ethnic roots that I grew up with. And of course, I’m grateful I got to spend time with my grandparents.
