Another year has come and gone, another year has started. There’s so much I want to achieve this year and yet I enter 2016 with more than a little trepidation. The idea that a new year brings new beginnings seems pretty arbitrary. A new starting line every year? I’d rather look to specific moments in my life that mark my journey. These are the true beginnings to new things. That is why it’s important too to reflect on these markers.
Looking back, here are some markers that I want to hold on to from the past year:
- Travelling alone for the first time
- Experimenting with (creative) photography
- Gaining a clearer idea of where I want to go from here
- Seizing and living in the moment with the future in mind
That photo above depicts what I saw on my first morning in Valais, Switzerland last year. It still takes my breath away and the memory of the grandness that I beheld all around the Alps still overwhelm me.
I’m glad that I dared to give in to spontaneity and up and flew away. Of course, I came back. And back is where I have to figure out what’s next. One thing’s for sure — all these markers of 2015? I want these to glow even brighter in 2016.
